If you need a simple port-powered and reliable RS232 to RS422 converter without isolation then the XS202 is an ideal solution. It is a simple converter which is easy to use, it will work with any standard RS232 and RS422 device and it has a reasonable price tag.
The XS202 is powered from the RS232 port however if the RS232 port it is connected to does not provide sufficient power then an additional external 5VDC power supply can easily be added to the screw terminals on the RS422 side.
This RS232 to RS422 converter is ideal for most applications and commercial environments including communication with light process machinery, laboratory equipment, scales, printers and any other machinery or equipment with standard serial RS422 port. We do however not recommend this converter for heavy duty industrial environments due to its non-insolated interfaces and standard specifications. For industrial environments we recommend one of our optically isolated converters with industrial specifications.
As all our other converters this converter works bi-directionally, meaning it can send and receive data in both directions. The RS422 interface supports 4-wire asynchronous full duplex communication which means that it can send and receive at the same time. This converter will work with baud rates from 300 to 115200 bps. The baud rate is automatically adjusted to the baud rate your device is using so no manually adjustments are needed.
