The XS885 is a compact USB to RS485 / RS422 converter without a USB cord, the USB end simply connects directly to the computer's USB port, which makes this converter ideal for mobile applications, on-the-go or simply if you want a small convenient converter. Alternatively this converter can be connected to the computer's USB port by using a standard USB extension cable.
Small but Strong
This converter is ideal for light industrial and commercial applications and environments, and will also work fine with most other applications including any general office, commercial and laboratory environment. The housing is made of ABS hardened plastic and has a reinforced 5-screw terminal header with larger screws so attaching single wires is easy and they can be tightened securely.

-20°C to 60°C makes this converter ideal for most environments.
FTDI Processor
Designed around the FT232RL processor chip from FTDI Semiconductors this converter has one of the most reliable and feature rich processors on the market. The drivers are frequently updated and available for all versions of Windows, Linux and Mac. After installation of the included drivers the virtual COM port will automatically show up in your computer's Device Manager and can be accessed as if it was a standard built-in COM port.
Power for the converter is provided from the USB port which means no external power supply is needed.
ESD Protection
The serial interface has protection against static electricity for up to 15KV which will protect the converter (all five data lines) and your equipment against static electricity, high voltage spikes and other voltage problems which can interfere with the operation of the converter and the data communication. Protection is accomplished by four TVS's (Transient Voltage Suppressors), one for each data line.
