XS201A is a cost-effective standard RS232 to RS485 converter without isolation. It is similar to our XS202 except that this converter has a RS485 interface instead of RS422.
This converter is a simple and easy to use solution for converting standard RS232 to RS485 and/or RS485 to RS232. It will work with most standard serial applications such as light-duty factory machinery, laboratory and office equipment, scales and alarms just to mention a few. It is ideal for light industrial, commercial and most consumer environments. We do not recommend this converter for heavy-duty industrial environments due to its lack of isolation.
The XS201A is powered from the RS232 serial port or alternatively an external power supply which can easily be connected to the converter if the serial port it is connected to does not provide sufficient power.
It converts standard RS232 data signals to half-duplex asynchronous RS485 signals which can be used for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network configurations.
Automatic Send Data Control is enabled so no external software is required to use this converter.
The processor chip used in this converter is the MAX485E which ensures good solid performance and reliability.
