What we have here is a surge protected RS232 to RS485 / RS422 converter with a strong metal enclosure and several different interface types for connecting RS485 / RS422 cables.
This converter can either be used for converting RS232 to RS485 half duplex or RS232 to RS422 full duplex. It is powered by an external 9 to 30VDC power supply. Automatic Send Data Control is enabled so no control software or drivers are required the converter to work properly. Easy to incorporate in any point-to-point and point-to-multipoint network.
Surge Protection
This unit provides surge protection for up to +/-15KV, 600W for both the interface RS485 and the RS422 interface. Surge protection protects your serial devices and the converter itself against high voltage spikes, ground loops and other surges. It may also help prevent data loss and noise related problems. A feature which is ideal for commercial and industrial environments or other places where voltage spikes are suspected.
Multiple interfaces
One of the great features of this converter is that it has 3 different interfaces for connecting RS485 / RS422. Single wires can be connected by using the screw terminals, a standard DB9 cable can be connected to the DB9 male connector or if your RS485 / RS422 cable has a RJ45 plug then you can connect it directly to the RJ45 port.
Metal enclosure
The aluminum enclosure protects the inside of the converter very well against most environments. By using optional (not included) DIN adapters the converter can easily be installed on a standard DIN rail. Notice, even the enclosure is strong it is not water or dust proof, so we do not recommend using this converter in very wet or dusty environments.
