This is another version of the compact USB to RS485 / RS422 converter; it is similar to the XS885 with the exception that this is a more delicate converter made for laboratory, office, hobby, electronics and similar applications and environments. It has a clear plastic housing and a standard 5-screw terminal header which allows easy connection of single wires.
Small and Versatile
This converter is ideal for most consumer and commercial applications such as communication with serial printers, scanners, laboratory equipment, alarm systems and most other serial devices which has a standard RS485 or RS422 interface.
Power is provided from the computer through the USB port so no external power supply is required.
A 60cm long USB extension cable is included with this converter.
Silicon Labs Processor
The processor chip in this converter is the CP2102 from Silicon Labs which is a very reliable and high performance processor which in combination with the overall design of the circuitry makes this converter compatible and very reliable with most applications. The drivers for this processor is updated frequently and are available for all versions of Windows, Linux and Mac.
After installing the included drivers a virtual COM port will automatically be created in your operating systems Device Manager.
ESD Protection
Electrostatic protection for up to 15KV protects all 5 communication wires. A 5-screw terminal header allows for easy and secure connection of single wires.
