This serial PCIe card is similar to our serial PCI card with the exceptions that this card has a different processor and is made for the newer style PCIe slots. Some modern motherboards now only has PCIe slots and no PCI slots so if this is the case in your situation then you will need this serial PCIe card. As with the PCI card using a PCIe card will reduce electrical noise, data latencies and driver problems compared to using for example a USB to serial adapter.
The card adds two high-speed 9-pin serial RS232 COM ports to any PCIe-equipped PC. It uses a high quality chipset (MCS9922CV) from MosChip Technology which provides reliable performance and high transfer rates.
Once you have installed the included drivers your computer will automatically configure the next available COM port and IRQ address, so configuration is almost done automatically. Baud rates and other port settings are automatically adjusted to the serial device you connect to the card.
This serial card is ideal for connecting external modems, serial printers, handheld PDAs, mice and trackballs, keypads, serial POS devices, digital cameras and much more to your computer.
